Nerizza Miyamoto joined the Sarasota, FL office of Goodman McGuffey LLP in August 2020 as an Associate Attorney. Nerizza focuses her practice on insurance defense and general liability litigation. Nerizza is admitted to practice law in Florida and Illinois. Nerizza graduated from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law where she earned the CALI Award in Civil Justice Clinic. While in law school, Nerizza also clerked for Chief Judge Michael D. Burton of the St. Louis County Circuit Court in Missouri.
Prior to joining the firm, Nerizza represented local and regional employers and national insurers in workers’ compensation defense. After graduating from law school, Nerizza served as an Assistant Regional Counsel at the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel, Second District, handling dependency, criminal, and juvenile delinquency cases. Nerizza also served as an Assistant State Attorney at the Office of the State Attorney’s, 10th Judicial Circuit, where she represented the State of Florida in misdemeanor criminal prosecutions and the Florida Department of Revenue in Child Support enforcement matters. During her time as a defense attorney and prosecutor, she has tried over 70 non-jury and 15 jury trials.
Nerizza is from Anchorage, Alaska and currently resides in Sarasota with her husband, David.
